Refund Policy

We want you to be happy with LassoSnap. This Refund Policy explains when and how you can get your money back.
If you are reading this because something isn’t working as expected, please email us first at hello@byzanx.com — most issues are fixable in a day.
1. Summary
- 14 days, no questions asked, for first-time purchases and renewals
- One exception: refunds may be declined for accounts that have used 10 or more AI Summaries during the refund period (because each one costs us real money in third-party API fees)
- How to request: email hello@byzanx.com with your order ID or license key
- Processing time: typically 5-7 business days after approval, returned to your original payment method
2. Eligibility
You are eligible for a refund if all of the following are true:
- You purchased a paid subscription (Pro or Pro Plus, monthly or annual)
- Your request is received within 14 days of:
- The initial purchase date (for first-time customers), or
- The renewal date (for renewing subscribers)
- You have not used 10 or more AI Summaries during the refund period (see §3)
You do not need to provide a reason. We will not ask you to “try harder” or to “let us fix something first” — though if you’re willing to share what didn’t work, that helps us improve.
3. The AI Summary Exception
Each AI Summary you generate costs us approximately $0.05–$0.30 in third-party LLM API fees (paid to OpenRouter, who pays the model provider).
If your account has consumed 10 or more AI Summaries since your purchase or most recent renewal, we may decline the refund, because the API costs have already been incurred on our end and cannot be recovered.
Examples:
- ✅ You bought Pro yesterday, used 3 Summaries, want a refund → Eligible
- ✅ You renewed Pro Plus last week, used 8 Summaries, want a refund → Eligible
- ❌ You bought Pro 10 days ago, used 25 Summaries, want a refund → Likely declined
- 🤝 You bought Pro 12 days ago, used 11 Summaries, but the feature didn’t actually work for you → Email us; we may make an exception if there’s a clear product issue
This threshold does not apply to other features (saving, pushing to Obsidian/Notion, organizing) — those are essentially zero marginal cost for us.
4. How to Request a Refund
Email hello@byzanx.com with:
- Your order ID (from the Paddle email receipt) or your license key
- Optional: a brief reason (helps us improve, not required)
You do not need to:
- Fill out a form
- Provide your credit card information (we never see it)
- Justify your decision
- Wait for an automated reply before getting a real one
We aim to respond within 24 hours on business days.
5. After Approval
Once we approve your refund:
- We trigger the refund through Paddle (typically within 1 business day)
- Paddle processes the refund (typically 5-7 business days, depending on your card issuer)
- You will receive a refund confirmation email from Paddle
- Your LassoSnap account is downgraded to the free tier; your saved data remains intact
If you do not see the refund within 10 business days of confirmation, please check with your card issuer first, then email us if needed.
6. What Happens to My Data
Refunding does not delete your data. You keep:
- All saved snippets, notes, topics, and tags (on your device)
- The ability to use the free tier indefinitely
- The ability to upgrade again in the future
You will lose access to:
- Unlimited Obsidian/Notion push (capped at free-tier limits)
- 50/100 AI Summaries per month (capped at 3 per month on free tier)
- Pro Plus model access (if applicable)
7. Annual Subscriptions
The 14-day window applies to annual subscriptions the same as monthly. If you request a refund on day 15 of an annual subscription, you are no longer eligible under this policy — but you can still cancel future renewals via Paddle’s customer portal.
8. Chargebacks
If you initiate a chargeback (i.e., dispute the transaction with your bank) instead of contacting us first, we will:
- Provide Paddle with evidence to contest the chargeback
- Revoke your license key
- Decline future purchases from your account
This protects against fraud but is rarely how we’d prefer to resolve things. Please email us first — chargebacks are slower and worse for everyone.
9. Refunds Outside This Policy
If you have a situation we haven’t anticipated (e.g., you bought 15 days ago but the service was down for half that time), email us. We have discretion to grant refunds outside this policy in genuinely reasonable cases.
10. Statutory Consumer Rights
This policy does not affect any statutory consumer rights you may have under your local law, including but not limited to the EU Consumer Rights Directive (which provides a 14-day cooling-off period for distance contracts) and similar laws elsewhere.
For users in jurisdictions with longer mandatory refund windows, the longer period applies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the extension or by email (for active subscribers). The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs your refund eligibility for that purchase.
